CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

All courses are seven weeks unless otherwise noted. All class sizes are limited to eight students unless otherwise noted

Puppy Kindergarten (Puppy I) $130
For puppies of all breeds 3-5 months of age. The puppies are introduced to loose leash walking, obstacle courses, puppy ping pong, and socialization skills. Classes incorporate information on nutrition, body handling, and grooming skills. Designed to help you and your puppy get off on the right paw in life.

Listen Pup! (Puppy II) $130
For puppies of all breeds 6-8 months of age. In addition to the skills in Puppy Kindergarten, participants will be exposed to advanced body handling, grooming, and socialization skills. Focus will be placed on building a base for commands such as come, sit, stay, and attention.

Dog Zen (Attention/Focus) $140
Are you having difficulty getting your dogs attention? Tired of getting pulled down the street by your canine companion? Learn how to capture and maintain your canines attention, while learning skills for loose leash walking. Dogs must be over 8 months of age. Please do not bring your dog to the first class.

Just The Basics (Manners & Behavior) $130
Learn sit, stay, down, come, proper greeting, and loose leash walking… and then test them against distraction. Classes will include information on how to troubleshoot common behavior problems and set your dog up for success. Dogs must be over 8 months of age. Please do not bring your dog to the first night of class.

Basics For Bullies $110
Finally, an informational and hands on course for bully breed owners. Not only does this course cover the same information as our Just The Basics, but students will also learn specifics about bully breed temperament, training, and public opinion. Teach your dog how to be a breed ambassador in a positive environment that fosters an understanding of the reality and beauty of the bully breeds. Discounts available to adopted and spayed/neutered dogs. Dogs must be 9 months of age.

Beyond the Basics $140
Fine-tuning of the skills introduced in Just the Basics or Basics for Bullies. An introduction to off-leash heeling and command sequences. Exploration and introduction into competitive agility and obedience venues. Begin learning how to apply your recently acquired skills in a real world setting. Prerequisite: successful completion of a Dogz Downtown Basics course OR equivalent.

Canine Good Citizen $140
Preparatory course for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) examination. Want to earn an AKC title for your dog or learn about potential discounts on homeowners insurance? Examination will be the last night of class. Dogs must be one year of age by completion of the course.

Rally Obedience I $140
Originally developed by Charles “Bud” Kramer as an alternative to formalized competitive obedience, Rally-O is a fast growing venue. Canines and their companions learn the skills to participate in trials that emphasize fun, positive reinforcement, and mental stimulation for both parties. Prerequisite: successful completion of a Basics course or equivalent.

Rally Obedience II $140
Canines and their companions learn the skills to participate in trials that emphasize fun, positive reinforcement, and mental stimulation for both parties. Introduction to more advanced skills in preparation for level two trials, including jumps and off-leash work. Prerequisite: successful completion of a Rally-Obedience One course or equivalent.

Rally Obedience III $140
Canines and their companions learn the skills to participate in trials that emphasize fun, positive reinforcement, and mental stimulation for both parties. Fine tuning of more advanced skills in preparation for level three trials, including off leash work and distraction. Prerequisite: successful completion of a Rally-Obedience Two course or equivalent.

Introduction to Agility $140
Establish a fun working relationship with your dog based on trust and teamwork. Explore agility equipment in a safe environment using reward based training and motivational methods. Prerequisite: must be 9 months of age and successful completion of a Puppy or Basics course or equivalent.

Beginner Agility $140
Now that you have conquered each obstacle, learn how to approach them from different angles and troubleshoot problem areas. Incorporate targeting and contact zone proofing into the obstacles. Prerequisite: Intro Agility or equivalent.

Intermediate Agility $140
Start chaining it all together. Begin running obstacle sequences with special attention to handler body language, direction and control, and distance work. Motivate your dog and enjoy a fun energy release. Prerequisite: successful completion of beginner agility or equivalent.

Advanced Agility $140
Let's put it all together and challenge yourself with complex course work and advanced obstacle sequences. Become informed about local venues for competitive agility trials and opportunities for continuing education. Prerequisite: successful completion of intermediate agility or equivalent.

Feisty Fido I $200
Does your dog react aggressively or fight with other dogs? Would you like to know why? Students will practice attention games, distraction techniques, and desensitization using only positive training methods. Canine participants will learn to enjoy class and therefore develop a happy emotional response to the presence of other dogs. Additionally, your dog will learn appropriate dog on dog greeting and play behavior in carefully supervised and safe conditions. This is an intensive class designed for owners who are serious about resolving dog to dog aggression issues. If you, too are a “ midnight walker”, there is help in the form of a supportive, fun, and understanding class. Class size is limited to five student teams. Please do not bring your dog to the first class.

Feisty Fido II $200
A continuation of Feisty Fido One, this course offers enrichment in obedience skills and continued dog to dog socialization. Increased distraction and novel situations allows for proofing of Level One Skills. Class size limited to five student teams. Prerequisite: Feisty Fido I.

Feisty Fido III $200
Help prepare your reactive dog for the real world. Using positive training methods and desensitization, teach your dog that it's fun to be around other dogs. This course covers extensive off leash work under distraction in a controlled environment. Have fun with your dog again! Class size is limited to five student teams. Prerequisite: Feisty Fido II.

Outdoor Adventures $160
A fun lesson in real world living, Outdoor Adventures is designed to prepare students and their canine companions for the challenges of everyday living. Learn how to turn your dog away from distractions such as bicyclists, crowded conditions, strange sights, loud sounds, and much, much more… Classes are conducted in varying locations in order to ensure a “real world” experience. Additionally, dogs will learn appropriate social behavior (according to us humans, anyway J ) in a wide variety of settings. Prerequisite: successful completion of a Beyond the Basics course or equivalent.

Reiki Parts I & II $150 each session
This is a two part course. Our Reiki Practitioner believes that you should learn Reiki for people before applying it to your dog. The first seven weeks will focus on various Reiki techniques for people and how to apply them in order to promote spiritual healing. The second seven weeks will teach students how to switch these techniques from humans to their canine counterparts.

Wallflower $200
Is your dog nervous or shy in social settings? Our confidence course helps build canine self esteem by gradual desensitization and positive reinforcement. Dog and handler teams will be desensitized to touch, sight, and sound starting at very low levels where each dog feels safe. Let your dog blossom to his full potential. Continuous enrollment – please call for more information.

Confidence Course $150
A continuation of the Wallflower course – confidence is a must for a calm, happy dog. Your dog will be gradually desensitized to touch, sight, and sound by gradual desensitization. Using only positive and fun techniques your dog will learn to scale our obstacle course, greet new people, and ignore sounds such as pots and pans. Help your dog gain the confidence he has been needing!

Delta Society Pet Assisted Therapy – 6 wk $165
Do you think your dog has what it takes to visit nursing homes or school children and be a pet assisted therapy Partner? Well, join the Delta Society Pet Partners Program and enroll in a class today. Your final class will be your exam.

Rescue Remedies……………………………………………………….. NO CHARGE

Rescue Remedies is a monthly four hour informational session aimed at individuals who recently adopted an adult dog from a shelter. We will focus on common problems associated with adult dog adoption as well as responsible pet ownership. Additionally, there will be a round table discussion time where new owners can share their experiences. This will be followed by Q & A to trouble shoot any specific issues new owners may have encountered. New pet parents will receive free advice from reputable instructors in a fun and supportive environment.

 

CLUB DOGZ

Club Dogz is a membership program for those individuals who wish to pursue competitive canine activities and external adventures such as hiking. This is a fun and supportive group activity where members work alongside with the Dogz Downtown staff and their dogs. You can receive free advice, carpool to regional trials, and be part of a supportive team that believes in helping one another as opposed to competing with one another. Club Dogz members will receive discounts on all training programs, as well as early access to seminars, trials, and Dogz Downtown trips. Come join the fun!
